FEAU Summer Workshop is an on-going international workshop among five universities in Asia. It’s a continuing rotational workshop. Hosting university rotates annually in following order: SKKU, NTUST, HIT, KU, KMUTT. In conjunction with the workshop, the faculty exhibition is held each year to share most up-to-date academic endeavors of previous year. Each year, hosting university announces the theme, site, and program of the FEAU Workshop. The theme of the workshop is typically innovation districts and urban regeneration with particular emphasis on historical narrative, public awareness, and urban regeneration. The site is typically a dilapidated area in the Urban Core. The program is oftentimes an innovative ecosystem of architecture, social mix, and local economy. Total participating students are about 50. The workshop groups are typically 5 students (one student from five universities). Each group is to come up with an architectural and urban programs that would regenerate the dilapidated urban area. Students from five universities are mixed to pull out cross-cultural design solutions that are international, and at the same time, Asian. On the final presentation day, professors from five universities provide critical review to the outputs of student teams group works. After the final presentation, awards ceremony and closing party follows. The following day, the hosting university provides 2-day architectural excursion to the participants. FEAU engenders common and specific themes of East Asia culture, but more importantly, it enlightens new questions and challenges that lie ahead. DOA, SKKU successfully hosted the FEAU Workshop in years 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2019.
